Welcome to Marie's Donuts
"Marie's Donuts," a cherished Sacramento staple since the 50s, exudes a nostalgic charm with its old-fashioned wooden building and welcoming service. Known for its light and airy donuts, diverse fillings like custard and berries, and reasonable prices, this family-run establishment has won over locals and tourists alike. The glazed and chocolate-raised donuts, along with the custard-filled treats, are hailed as some of the best in town. Despite some mixed reviews on the cream fillings, Marie's remains a go-to spot for high-quality, fresh donuts that cater to a variety of tastes. A must-visit for anyone craving a classic donut experience with a touch of local charm.

Welcome to Marie's Donuts, a beloved establishment located in Sacramento, CA. Known for its decades-old tradition of serving delectable donuts, Marie's Donuts is a local favorite that has stood the test of time. The wooden building, with only ordering available outside, adds to its old-fashioned charm.
Marie's Donuts offers a wide range of delicious treats, from classic glazed and chocolate raised donuts to creme-filled and old-fashioned varieties. The texture and flavor of their donuts are exceptional, with just the right balance of crispiness and moisture. Customers rave about the quality and taste of the donuts, giving high praise to the glazes and fillings.
One standout feature of Marie's Donuts is their unique white filling, which adds a twist to the traditional donut experience. While some may find it similar to Cool Whip in texture and flavor, others appreciate the novelty it brings to the table.
In addition to their mouthwatering donuts, Marie's Donuts also offers a variety of drinks, including coffee, hot chocolate, and juices. The service at Marie's Donuts is top-notch, with friendly staff who take pride in their work and make the shopping experience enjoyable.
Whether you're a donut enthusiast or just looking for a tasty treat, Marie's Donuts is a must-visit spot in Sacramento. With affordable prices, a wide selection of flavors, and a long-standing reputation for excellence, Marie's Donuts is a true gem in the world of donut shops.
The donuts are about average, slightly over given their unique white filling and how they present the yeast donut with a sandwich approach. Something different. The white cream runs much like Cool Whip in texture and flavor. I'm not a big fan. Average is good. Below average not so and above is better. The service is nice and the people are friendly. Of course this is a local fave spot and I appreciate the local entrepreneur versus larger corporate or grocery store versions.
We went back to Marie's for the first time since before the Covid shutdown and it was sill great. As I said in my prior review, it's a long-standing, old-fashioned doughnut place which has been around for decades, a wooden building with only ordering at the counter outside. The doughnuts are all excellent. The glazed and chocolate raised doughnuts, creme or custard filled doughnuts, and the old-fashioned doughnuts are among the best we have ever had. Texture and crumb are perfect, with a crispy exterior and an interior which is moist but not too moist, properly dense but not too dense or bready. 5 stars for the doughnuts and glazes. They have a nice fried-dough flavour and the glazes and frosting are excellent in taste and texture as well. I'd prefer it if they did a creme-filled chocolate as well as creme-filled glazed, but they have a good custard-filled chocolate. The custard is good but not outstanding. 4 stars.
Lots of choices and they do carry donuts with nuts (which is wonderful)!!!. I find that some donut shops, the donuts are two heavy and not light and airy like they are here. They just started selling mochi donuts as well and they considerably much cheaper than Mochinut and taste just the same. Not as many flavors for topping for those...yet? Excellent custard, lemon, and berry fillings that aren't too sweet. They have a blueberry donut which is also delicious. The service is quick and friendly and they also seem like they enjoy their jobs, which in turn makes the shopping experience so much better.
Couldn't help popping by since I was next door. Love that this is an establishment that has been around since the 50s. It was also fun walking up to the window (as opposed to was liking into a donut shop. The donuts looked like typical donuts you might find elsewhere. There was only one that looked different. Turns out I was the same as an Apple fritter but different in texture. I'm not a big donut fan but this felt like a nice local experience. And who can say no to a donut!
Light-textured donuts, cheap, open very late. The cream was a little artificial tasting but still more real than Krispy Kreme. The hot chocolate was from a bag one of those sugary ones got very from a nice bank, not worth it for 2.50.
