The donuts are about average, slightly over given their unique white filling and how they present the yeast donut with a sandwich approach. Something different. The white cream runs much like Cool Whip in texture and flavor. I'm not a big fan. Average is good. Below average not so and above is better. The service is nice and the people are friendly. Of course this is a local fave spot and I appreciate the local entrepreneur versus larger corporate or grocery store versions.

We went back to Marie's for the first time since before the Covid shutdown and it was sill great. As I said in my prior review, it's a long-standing, old-fashioned doughnut place which has been around for decades, a wooden building with only ordering at the counter outside. The doughnuts are all excellent. The glazed and chocolate raised doughnuts, creme or custard filled doughnuts, and the old-fashioned doughnuts are among the best we have ever had. Texture and crumb are perfect, with a crispy exterior and an interior which is moist but not too moist, properly dense but not too dense or bready. 5 stars for the doughnuts and glazes. They have a nice fried-dough flavour and the glazes and frosting are excellent in taste and texture as well. I'd prefer it if they did a creme-filled chocolate as well as creme-filled glazed, but they have a good custard-filled chocolate. The custard is good but not outstanding. 4 stars.

Lots of choices and they do carry donuts with nuts (which is wonderful)!!!. I find that some donut shops, the donuts are two heavy and not light and airy like they are here. They just started selling mochi donuts as well and they considerably much cheaper than Mochinut and taste just the same. Not as many flavors for topping for those...yet? Excellent custard, lemon, and berry fillings that aren't too sweet. They have a blueberry donut which is also delicious. The service is quick and friendly and they also seem like they enjoy their jobs, which in turn makes the shopping experience so much better.

Couldn't help popping by since I was next door. Love that this is an establishment that has been around since the 50s. It was also fun walking up to the window (as opposed to was liking into a donut shop. The donuts looked like typical donuts you might find elsewhere. There was only one that looked different. Turns out I was the same as an Apple fritter but different in texture. I'm not a big donut fan but this felt like a nice local experience. And who can say no to a donut!

Light-textured donuts, cheap, open very late. The cream was a little artificial tasting but still more real than Krispy Kreme. The hot chocolate was from a bag one of those sugary ones got very from a nice bank, not worth it for 2.50.

Came across this spot while exploring the area. There was a short line outside and we gave it a shot. Person who helped us was friendly - looks like a family-run business. Ordered just about 1 of everything they had to share. Overall the donuts were really tasty, and not too sweet. The custard filling wasn't too sweet at all (like most other places). Everything was fresh and tasty. Will come back next time I'm in town.

Arguably the best donuts in America... A must have treat!! Pro-Tip: Get one that includes chocolate

THE BEST! Yep, I said it. It's a south Sacramento institution. Been getting these for decades. Not as much as of late since our kiddos no longer go to the nearby neighborhood school. It's a no frills kinda place. Here's an easy decoder on hours. They're closed from 4pm to 11pm. Other than that OPEN! They have your late night to overnight to early morning to mid afternoon covered.

Marie's Donuts is definitely a Sacramento staple! You can't be from here or visit without stopping by to get some of the yummiest and freshest donuts! I've been going to Marie's ever since middle school. Their little stand is known and loved by so many locals and tourists! They always have the friendliest staff as well. You can't go wrong with any donuts they have here but I would say my favorites are their apple fritters and any glazed donuts. I'm not usually a fan of cake/old fashioned donuts because they tend to be dense/dry but I will eat Marie's because it's not dense at all! Their glaze isn't over sweet or thick which I love.

Sacramento staple!!! Yum!!! Almost always a line but so worth it! You can get a dozen doughnuts for under $20. Everyone who works here is so nice! Fresh, amazing doughnuts!
